22-Nov / Collaborations-Historical Acting-Koninklijke Schouwburg Den Haag-MUSICA POËTICA / 4 COMMENTS
This season has quite a few gems in store, and one of the most anticipated projects for me is none other than Benda’s “Ariadne auf Naxos” with the Musica Poëtica orchestra lead by Jörn Boysen- Fenruary 5th @ the Koninklijke Schouwburg Den Haag. This time I’ll be owning the role of Ariadne, not as singer, but as a historical actress.
Working with this truly unique ensemble, one has to come in contact with more than one’s own craft.
Their way of bringing a piece to the stage demands the collaboration and 100% dedication of so many different components.
One of these essential components is master wig artist Pilo Pilkes. I finally had the pleasure of being introduced to him in his atelier in Amsterdam, when João and I were searching for the right wigs and hairstyles for this melodrama. As magical as the Alibaba treasure cave, your eye jumps around the room from one curious corner to the next. Don’t get me wrong, I get a hell of kick from being on stage and pouring my heart out, but finding myself in such places, not known usually to the audience, and talking to such experienced professionals, makes me feel like a girl in a candy store. Here are few photos from this cool experience:
I’m curious to see the results of the visit to Alibaba cave on stage, where can I order tickets?
We have 2 concerts planned for Feb. 5 (11.00 & 15.00) at the Royal theater in The Hague. Tickets can be purchased via: https://www.ks.nl/agenda/?p=8#modal=/agenda/1073/Musica_Poetica/Georg_Benda_Ariadne_auf_Naxos/
Huzzah! I <3 Pilo!
It looks as if some of the items in the cave have their own story.
